To the Editor,
I am Mike Allman's ex-wife, and I have not written a letter to the editor for a long time.
The citizens of Brooke County do truly have a chance to make history by electing Mike Allman sheriff as a write-in candidate, but more important for those who decided not to or were unable to vote in the primary election is they now have a second chance for their voices to be heard and to elect Mike for sheriff.
Everyone should take a moment and remember all that he has done for our county in his two terms as sheriff and as a magistrate. If they don't know him, they should take a moment to call him and talk to him. Not often do you find a candidate's ex-wife, her current husband and her family supporting her ex-husband for an elected office. We support him and will vote for him because we know he is the right person. He is committed, caring and kind. He is honest, fair and exhibits integrity.
In any election before voting in an incumbent or a member of that incumbent's team one should ask, "What has the current group done during their term(s) that has impacted me or my community?" If the answer isn't there, then ask yourself what Mike did for the county while he was in office. He supported DARE, the phone system that checks on the elderly or homebound, established a drug task force, solved crimes, delivered medications during snowstorms - the list is endless. If he could not do it personally, he found a way to make it happen.
Do we in Brooke County want someone who will be at work every day and be available 24/7? Do we want a sheriff with the experience who has worked for the citizens before, and know where they are coming from and what they expect or do we want someone else that may or may not be sensitive to our needs and expectations? We need to give this election serious consideration and even if it is a rainy day find a way to make it to the polls and vote for Mike Allman as a write-in candidate.
If we are going to show that we are in control of our county, that we will not be intimidated, and will settle for nothing but quality and integrity, then we should show our strength and get out there and write in Mike Allman for sheriff on Election Day.
