To the editor:
I had a very strange day of archery hunting deer the other day. It all started while sitting by a tree. I noticed a nice fox walking around to my right. He circled behind me and then walked right up to me. Then he tried to pee on me.
I got up to walk over to a certain ridge when I encountered a skunk, which proceeded to chase me about 50 feet before going to a hollow. I found a nice spot to hunt. I decided that it was the best ambush for possible harvest, as there was much activity of deer in the area.
That's when I noticed something moving in my backpack which I had placed by a tree to lay a scent trail. I thought it might be that skunk wrong. It was a squirrel that decided to help itself to my bag of peanuts.
After some time passed, I was sitting quietly waiting for any deer to make a mistake. That's when a woodpecker landed on me and tried to abuse me like an old tree. He now looks like a naked Daffy Duck.
After seeing a little movement of some small deer too far out and four hours later, I decided to leave and try again the next day. While on my way back to my truck, I approached this ridge. Glassing this area with my binoculars, I somehow lost my footing, slid down a hill and landed in a strip pond, where I got cold.
Nov. 6 will be a strange day to vote, when we are to find the right candidate for president, as well as others.
Hopefully, your day will not be a wild encounter.
