BRILLIANT - Charles and Alice Jean Shields of Brilliant celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Tuesday.
They were married on Oct. 30, 1942, in the East Springfield United Methodist Church, with the bride's uncle, Ernest Weals, officiating.
She is the daughter of the late Garnet and Victor Weals.

He is the son of the late Mae and Walter Shields.
They have three children: David of Bremen, Ohio; Curtis of Ostrander, Ohio; and Carla of Wintersville. One granddaughter and four great-grandchildren complete the family.
