To the editor:
The Bible says "It is better to give than to receive." I have recently learned that it is also easier to give than to receive. On Sept. 29, I was honored with a benefit to support my fight against breast cancer. Words cannot describe how I felt on this day. Not only did I have the love and support of my husband, kids, family, friends and co-workers, I also had the love and support of our wonderful community.
The committee who made this benefit possible was made up of the kindest, most hard-working and amazing people that I know. In addition to the committee, I would also like to thank everyone who helped to organize this special event. Multiple people and community businesses donated food, gift baskets, door prizes and items for auction. I have seen firsthand that there are no limits to what people will do to help out, especially in our small town.
Seeing all those who gave their time to attend in my honor truly made my day. I am overwhelmed by the love and support shown to me and I hope I will always be the person deserving of this love and support.
My family and I thank each and every person who has touched our lives during this battle against breast cancer. The love and support that the people of Steubenville and surrounding communities have shown has been our strength.
Thank you, and God bless you.
