STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The Fort Steuben Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution met Oct. 13 at Scaffidi's Restaurant, with Chapter Regent Jo Ann Morrison calling the meeting to order.
Susan Brown led the Pledge of Allegiance; Karen Blanc, the Americans Creed; and Wadeanne Nardo, the National Anthem. Secretary Carol Skerbetz gave the invocation and blessing.
Gary Timmons, George Washington Chapter of the Society of the Sons of the American Revolution past president, gave a presentation on the Wreaths Across America project, which focuses on placing wreaths on military graves in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, established in 2005 near Washington, Pa. The George Washington Chapter began the project in 2008, and Timmons is project chair. Volunteers will place the wreaths Dec. 15. Blanc requested the chapter increase its donation to Wreaths Across America, and the membership voted in favor.
The previous meeting's minutes were read and approved, and the treasurer's report was submitted and filed for audit.
Morrison introduced prospective members Carol Dulaney and Theresa Hess and welcomed Carolyn Mizok back to the chapter. Lisa Carte has been approved a member of the chapter, and will be inducted at the Nov. 10 meeting.
Wadeanne Nardo reported she delivered T-shirts, socks and briefs to the local Veteran's Administration hospital, and she continues to collect such items.
Treasurer Beverly Livingston reminded members the chapter and national dues are to be paid.
Morrison thanked Blanc and the Calling Committee. Skerbetz gave the benediction.
The next meeting will be at noon Nov. 10 at Scaffidi's, and John Chernenko will give a presentation on World War II Prisoners of War.
