Luncheon sale at

St. Paul's church

St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 415 Adams St., Steubenville, will host its monthly soup and sandwich luncheon on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Featured soups are vegetable and chicken rice. Ham salad and sloppy joe sandwiches will be available in addition to desserts.

Adult lunches are $6. The cost is $3 for children under 12. Takeouts will be available.

Farm City Week

plans under way

The Jefferson County Farm Bureau Women's Promotion and Education committee met to make plans for Farm City Week by distributing placemats relating farm facts to restaurants.

Businesses to receive the place mats are the Mill Creek Inn, Country Kitchen in Brilliant, Marsha's, White Bear Inn, Romano's in Bloomingdale, Lancelot's, Touch of Elegance in Wintersville and Frank's.

Mary Ellen Grafton presided at the dinner meeting held at Bob Evans Restaurant.

The annual Christmas party was planned for noon on Dec. 3 at the Hampton Inn social room. Members were assigned dishes to bring, and the group will provide the ham. A $15 gift exchange will be held.

The Farm Bureau office has moved to the old Bantam Ridge School in Wintersville, sharing the building with the move of the Ohio State University and Jefferson County Extension agency and the Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District.

Jeanne Roberts announced some new rules for the membership campaign, with a shorter time to get the job done. There will be a meeting at the office at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 11.

A report was made on the education scholarship given to a Buckeye West Elementary School class. The pupils will be planting gardens in the communities where they live in Mount Pleasant, Adena and Dillonvale.

Jeanine Smith was the winner of the door prize. Grafton had members take a test on agriculture products.

The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 14 at Eat 'n' Park.

Sands of Time

at Country Friends

Country Friends will host the Sands of Time band Saturday at the Memorial Hall located at 402 Old Police Lodge road, Colliers.

Country Friends has events each Monday, Friday and Saturday at the hall. The doors open at 6 p.m. each Saturday, and the dance starts at 7 p.m.

On Mondays and Friday, the doors open at 4 p.m., and open mic begins at 6 p.m. Participants can bring a covered dish if they so desire for the meal that begins at 5 p.m.

Country Friends Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting Christianity, friendship and brotherly love through music. All proceeds go to charity.

'Fabulous Fall

Vendor Show' set

The "West Wild Things" Relay for Life team members will be hosting their "Fabulous Fall Vendor Show" from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in the West Elementary School gymnasium located at 243 N. Mills St., Adena.

Some of the vendors will include Premier Jewelry, Scentsy, Watkins, Thirty-One and Miche. Refreshments, including baked goods, will be available.

There also will be a Chinese auction, a 50-50 drawing and door prizes.

PTA seeks

clothing donations

The Brooke County Council PTA seeks donations of new coats and shoes as well as other children's clothing in good condition for the Brooke County Clothes Closet.
