County residents warned of scam
STEUBENVILLE - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department again is warning residents about a telephone scam about a relative being arrested and needing cash.
County Sheriff Fred Abdalla said there have been about four instances recently of residents receiving calls about a jailed relative. One this week involved a resident getting a call about a grandchild being arrested in Mexico, Abdalla said.
Persons receiving such a call are being advised not to give out any information and to contact the sheriff's department.
Sewer work set for McCauslen Manor
STEUBENVILLE - Traffic in the McCauslen Manor neighborhood was scheduled to be restricted to one lane starting at 7 a.m. today.
Assistant Wastewater Superintendent Chuck Murphy said the roadway in the area of 1984 McCauslen Manor will be partially closed for the next seven days to allow crews from the James White Construction Co. to repair a sewer line in the area.
"We are urging motorists to use caution throughout the duration of the project. We anticipate completing the job by Nov. 21, but the job may go longer if necessary. We want to thank our customers and residents for their support as we endeavor to improve our sewer system," said Murphy.
