WEIRTON - The Weirton Area Chamber of Commerce is helping Weirton residents show off some civic pride.

The chamber recently began selling T-shirts with "Weirton, West Virginia" scripted on the front in "bling" rhinestones. The shirt is black with Weirton in red and West Virginia in white.

"People are always asking us for something with 'Weirton, West Virginia' on it," Weirton Chamber President Brenda Mull said.

Mull explained two styles of shirts are available, with a regular T-shirt as well as a more fitted, scoop-necked shirt.

The cost of the shirts will start at $20 depending on the style and size. Shirts are available at the chamber office during regular business hours. The chamber tries to keep a stock of the shirts on-hand, but Mull said people shouldn't worry if their size is not available.

"You can order them and we can have them in a couple days," Mull said.

Mull explained the chamber also will have the shirts available for purchase and order during the Weirton Christmas Parade on Saturday, with a table set up at the Greater Weirton Senior Center from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The senior center will be the location of a craft fair set up Saturday as part of the community's Christmas festivities. According to Dan Greathouse, Top of West Virginia Convention and Visitors Bureau executive director, 28 vendors will be on site throughout the afternoon.

"There's plenty of things to look for, browse and buy," Greathouse said.

Mull explained the chamber will continue selling the shirts with the possibility of a few seasonal changes from time to time.

"In the spring, we plan to do the shirt in a patriotic manner," Mull said.

Those shirts will be white, with Weirton written in red and West Virginia in blue.
