COLLIERS - Michael D. Shaw, the son of John and Ann Shaw of Colliers, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank available in the Boy Scouts of America.
Michael is an originating member of Troop 57, sponsored by Open Door Baptist Church in Colliers, and is the third scout from the troop to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. He also is a member of the Order of the Arrow.
Michael's service project was to design and build two sets of cement steps, with hand rails, from a walkway down an embankment to the basketball court in Follansbee Park. In order to complete the project, Michael sought approval from the City of Follansbee and raise more than $400 in donations from McMaster's Construction, M&M True Value Hardware and Lowe's. More than 80 volunteer hours were donated by Michael, his troop, youth group, congregation members and friends.
