President Tawnya Dennis presided over the Colliers School Parent-Teacher Association's most recent meeting, with the kindergarten classes leading the Pledge of Allegiance.
Elaine Merriner, Title I teacher, thanked parents for their participation.
The cultural arts theme for the year will be "Magic of the Moment." The Library Committee gave a report, and the Ways and Means Committee reported on a recent fundraiser.
Kindergarteners were given welcome gifts.
Sarah Ann Barker's class was the room count winner.
Following the meeting, refreshments were served.
The next meeting will be held Dec. 11.
Contest winners announced
Phyllis Aria, Colliers Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary president, announced the winners in a recent costume contest.
They included: Bailey Duke, Isabelle Boniey and Ryan Taylor, under 2-years-old; Gina Pramasn, Dalton Forrester and Taylor Powell, 3- to 5-years-old; Wynter McQuiston, Donovan Stevic and Collin Hutchinson, 6- to 9-years-old; McKenzie Fox, Logan Baldauf and Daniel Irwin, 10 and up; and Mark Forrester, Justin Coen and Lori Stevic, adult.
The Northern Panhandle Trapper Association will hold their annual holiday dinner at the Colliers Fire Hall at 5 p.m. Dec. 1.
Members are asked to bring a covered-dish and white elephant auction item.
Colliers Alumni meet
The Colliers School Alumni and Friends Association recently met with President Darlene Brennan presiding.
The group is taking orders for calendars featuring photos of former Colliers School buildings and the historical community photos.
The cost is $5 each. Orders may be made by calling (304) 748-8188. Check may be made out to Colliers Alumni and mailed to Colliers School, 270 Pennsylvania Ave., Colliers, WV 26035.
The organization is on Facebook as Colliers School Alumni and Friends Association.
The next meeting will be Dec. 13.
Coloring contest winner
Jo-Ellen Goodall, Colliers School principal, announced second-grader Josh Van Horn won first place in the Credit Union Coloring Contest and was honored at a dinner at Undo's.
Auxiliary plans party
The Colliers Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a community Christmas party for children from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 15 at the fire hall.
The event will include treats, gifts, refreshments and a visit from Santa.
The auxiliary will meet Dec. 14.
