To the Editor,
The Hancock County Commissioners, the Hancock County BOE and the rest of the private entities involved in discussions to purchase the land and develop it need to step back and take a better look at what is happening.
The CVFD wants the stadium for the community to use. They are not looking to make a profit. There are many other sites in Hancock County that could use development that are just sitting, vacant, decaying. Chester has the TS&T site, the old Taco Hueys; Newell has the Rauh building, the old brick yard by Kennedy Marina, just to name a few. There are several other dilapidated buildings and vacant lands that could be used for this "development."
Why the need to pillage the historic football stadiums away from the communities? Do the taxpayers of Hancock County really need to pay $400,000 for land that they will receive no benefit from? Do what is right for the community. Remember they are the ones that elected you to serve in their best interest!
