Patty Boniti's sixth-grade class at St. Joseph the Worker Grade School donated $325 to local charity Athena's Closet, which assists cancer patients with expenses, in honor of their teacher, who is a 15-year breast cancer survivor. The class gave up treats, did extra chores and convinced their parents to match their contributions. Boniti was recently awarded a McDonald's Make Activities Count Grant for her special Pi Day events, and the grant will be used toward math activities at the school.
