Outdoors Club participants are meeting for local hikes

December 3, 2012
Weirton Daily Times

The Outdoors Club organized a local hike Nov. 18 with Ray Ferrell leading the participants on a 4-mile journey that covered the Piedmont Lake section of the Buckeye Trail.

The Outdoors Club meets for local hikes one Sunday a month at 2 p.m. and covers public trails in or near Harrison County. The hikes are generally 4 miles in length, but individuals have the option of turning back at any point to suit their own needs.

Past locations the Outdoors Club has visited include Clendenning Lake, Tappan Lake, Leesville Lake, Salt Fork State Park, Harrison State Forest and the Conotton Creek Trail.

The Outdoors Club will not be hiking in December because of the holiday season, but hikes will resume in January.

Look for Outdoors Club notices at the Puskarich Public Library, Scio Branch Library or Clark Memorial Branch Library.

E-mail notices of upcoming hikes and trail-clearing sessions can be received by sending an e-mail to ebrooks@oplin.org with a request to be added to the Outdoors Club list.
