WEIRTON - The Weirton United Way is planning its own Super Bowl spectacular, no matter what teams are playing.
The United Way is in the process of planning its second-annual Pre Super Bowl Party fundraiser, currently set to take place Feb. 2 at the Knights of Columbus in Weirton.
The event is something the United Way started as part of the 2011 campaign, and featured a variety of prize drawings and football-themed attractions.

Event Chair Scott Winwood announced there would be a grand prize drawing, which includes a 55-inch LG brand 3D LED television and a 3D Blu-ray player, as well as a $500 NFLshop.com gift card.
"The prize package was sponsored by WTOV and First Choice America Community Federal Credit Union," Winwood explained.
Retail cost of the prize package is $2,995, according to Winwood. Winwood added if the winner chooses, the television will be installed by On Site Service Center, through which it is being purchased.
Tickets for the prize are $5 each and currently available at the Weirton United Way office, the two Weirton branches of First Choice America credit union and Marland Heights Deli.
Additional details on this year's event will be made available at a later date.
The inaugural event saw more than 250 people in attendance, with many dressing in the colors of their favorite football teams.
The Weirton United Way provides support to 15 area agencies, including the American Red Cross - River Valley Chapter, Boys and Girls Club of Weirton, Girl Scouts Black Diamond Council, Boy Scouts of America, C.H.A.N.G.E. Inc., Community Bread Basket, Dunbar Recreation Center, Healthways, Hancock/Brooke/Ohio/Marshall Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, Hancock County Sheltered Workshop, Hancock County 4-H Foundation, Weirton Medical Center Foundation, Mary H. Weir Public Library, Salvation Army - Weirton Corps., and the Weirton Christian Center.
