Also on hand for the presentation was Greg Rote, program manager for the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection's Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan, which provides bags and gloves for volunteers involved in the cleanups.
Last year the village received a $9,800 grant from West Virginia R.E.A.P. to purchase a dropoff bin for recyclable materials. Residents may deposit paper, plastic and aluminum in the bin, which is by the municipal garage by the Beech Bottom Municipal Building.
Lewis said response to the bin has been positive, with it being emptied on a weekly basis. It contents are delivered to the Brooke County Solid Waste Authority's Recycling Center not far away.
