WEIRTON - After becoming aware of an increased need and decreasing donations at the Community Bread Basket, on West Street, the Antonio Mucci Lodge of Sons of Italy conducted a nonperishable food drive.
"We asked our members to contribute nonperishable goods to Community Bread Basket, and 414 pounds of food was collected at our meeting," said President Regina Truax. "Our members are very generous when they know that their efforts are going for a good cause."
Gloria Foster, Bread Basket volunteer, said that the need continues to increase and the resources of the local, state and federal agencies has been lowered to nearly nothing.

"This is a good thing that the Antonio Mucci Lodge is doing, we wish more organizations would see the need and have the organizations conduct this type of service," she said. "Every bit helps and if each organization would do what they could, we will continue to feed the hungry."
