Big Red moves to 8-0

STEUBENVILLE - Three players scored in double figures Saturday afternoon at the Crimson Center as the Steubenville girls basketball team rasied its record to 8-0 with a 75-39 win over Cleveland Rhodes.

Emiley Masloski led the way with a game-high 20 points. Mytia Barker added 15 and Hannah Masloski 13 as Big Red held a 41-13 lead at halftime.

Steubenville plays in the Martins Ferry Tournament Friday, taking on the hosts at 8 p.m. Shadyside will meet Pickerington Central in the 6 p.m. contest.

Dons run past Royals

WEIRTON - The Weirton Madonna girls basketball team raced past visiting Jefferson County Christian 52-14 Saturday at the Bill Barrett Gymnasium.

Nicolette Selitti led the Blue Dons with a game-high 12 points. Rachel Grubbs added 10 and Aubrey Platek eight.

Weirton Madonna will play in the Undo's Tournament Friday and Saturday.

Meadow Jackson scored four for the Lady Royals, who visit Ohio University-Eastern next Saturday to take on East Richland Christian School.

Cruaders top Beallsville

STEUBENVILLE - The Steubenville Central girls basketball team erased a one-point deficit with a 15-9 fourth quarter to beat visiting Beallsville 55-50 Saturday afternoon.

Rachel Irvin and Miranda Parkinson scored 12 of the 15 points for Central. The Crusaders were 9 for 12 from the free throw line in the final period after being 4 for 11 through the first three quarters.

Irvin paced Central with a game-high 20 points. Micca Mirabella delivered 14 points and Parkinson eight.

The Crusaders visit Weirton Madonna on Jan. 3.

Knights keep rolling

TORONTO - The Toronto girls basketball team went into the Christmas break with an impressive 59-32 win over visiting Bishop Donahue Saturday afternoon.

The Red Knights raised their record to 5-3 thanks to a game-high 14 points from Lindsay Bodnar, eight from Lexie Berger and seven from Kayla Brown.

Toronto is back in action Jan. 3 at Wellsville.

Huskies knock off Shamrocks

BARNESVILLE - The Harrison Central girls basketball team outscored host Barnesville 29-19 in the second half en route to a 48-39 victory Saturday afternoon.

Jess Ledger led the way with 12 points. Jess Custer and Kara Dunfee each added 11 and Katie Ellzy nine.

The Huskies host Weir High Thursday.

Bears fall at home

NEW MANCHESTER - The North Marion girls basketball team led 25-10 after one quarter at Oak Glen and cruised to a 91-42 win over the Golden Bears Saturday afternoon.

Vanessa Hissam led Oak Glen with 11 points. Jessica Stivason chipped in with eight and Logan Andrews seven.

The Golden Bears host Beaver Local on Saturday.
