Weirton Daily Times

FOLLANSBEE - The Brooke County Sheriff's Department is seeking a man believed to have attempted to break into a home on Elaine Street on Hooverson Heights at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Brooke County Sheriff's Department said pedestrians in the area said the man appeared to be attempting to gain entry through a front door to the home. They and others in the area described him as wearing a black Steelers jacket with a large Steelers emblem on it, having light brown or dirty blond hair and being about 5 foot 8 inches tall.

Brooke County school officials ordered a lockdown for nearby Hooverson Heights Primary School as well as Jefferson Primary School and Follansbee Middle School as a precaution. In keeping with the school district's lockdown policy, staff members were advised not to admit visitors during the lockdown, which occurred over about 45 minutes.

Anyone with information about the man should call the sheriff's department at (304) 527-1430 or (304) 737-3660.
