Follansbee to hold sign-ups

FOLLANSBEE - The Follansbee Girls Fastpitch Softball League will hold registration from noon to 3 p.m. Feb. 16 and March 2 at the Garibaldi Club. The cost is $50 for one child, $35 for the second child and $30 for the third child.

Baseball, softball sign-ups to be held

CHESTER - Oak Glen Junior Bears baseball and softball will hold sign-ups for boys ages 4-14 and girls ages 4-15 at the Chester Volunteer Fire Department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 16 and Feb. 23. Cost is $50 for the first child, $40 for second child, and $25 for each additional child with additional fundraiser.

Big Red boosters to meet

STEUBENVILLE - The Big Red Boosters will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the high school conference room. All are welcomed. Memberships are available.

Spartans win twice

The St. Joseph JV boys basketball team defeated Our Lady of Peace White, 24-21, and McMechen St. James & John, 21-17, in Wheeling Parochial League action. Against OLP, Dom Mazur paced the Spartans with eight points while Nick Paul added six. Robbie Valenti and Evan Boniti chipped in with three points apiece.

In the win over McMechen, Boniti totaled nine points, Paul four and Mazur three. Jon Luke Horne made two free throws late in the game to secure the victory.

The Spartans finished the season 8-4.

Boxing event set for tonight

KNOXVILLE - A night of international amateur boxing, Canada vs. America, will be held tonight at Board's Boxing located at Kelly's Old Skool bar in Knoxville. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the fights beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $15.

There are 16 fights scheduled including locals Tracer Yergan (Wellsville) and Glenn Mitchell (Steubenville). Concessions will be available.
