BALL JR., Everett D. "Papa Smurf", 70, of Richmond, OH, transformed from this life to everlasting life with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at Valley Hospice Care Center North, with his daughter by his side.
He was born in Steubenville on Oct. 1, 1942, a son of the late Everett D. Ball Sr. and Agnes McNeil Ball Vujanovich.
Everett was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Coke Plant and was the owner of the former Exxon Gas Station in Wintersville. He had also worked for Reisbeck's Grocery Store. Everett was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Jefferson Sportsman's Club and Wintersville Legion Post No. 557. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and enjoyed hunting, archery and vacationing at Myrtle Beach.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sondra E. Ball; brother PFC Charles Homer Ball; step-father, George Vujanovich; half-brother, Robert Vujanovich; grand parents Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McNeil.
Everett is survived by his daughter, Tracy Gratzmiller of Bloomingdale, OH; brothers, Richard and George Ball; half-brothers, Pete and Joe Vujanovich; step-sons, Kenneth (Lee) Feist and Darren (Sherry) Feist; step-grandson, Kenneth James Feist II; step-great-grandson, Kenneth James Feist III; uncles, William and Howard McNeil and aunt, Aline Keenan.
Everett had faith in God. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that who so ever believeth in him should never perish, but have everlasting life in heaven." John 3:16.
Friends may call at Dunlope-Shorac Funeral Home, 215 Fernwood Road, Wintersville, OH on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:45 a.m. with Rev. Randy Sells officiating. Burial at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
Memorial contributions may be made to Valley Hospice or Colonial Baptist Church. Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad will conduct graveside services.
