Edison beats Riders

WEIRTON - The Edison boys basketball team traveled to Weir High and came away with a 62-55 win Tuesday on the strength of a 24 of 36 performance from the charity stripe.

The Wildcats' Alec Jones led all scorer with 21 points. Dylan Jones added 12 and J.D. Howell nine.

The Red Riders, who went 7 for 18 from the foul line, were led by Josh Groves' 16-point effort. Shane Davis added 13 points.

Both teams are in action Friday when Edison hosts Madonna and Weir travels to Bridgeport.

Knights slay Bears

NEW CUMBERLAND - The Toronto boys basketball team defeated Oak Glen 37-25 Tuesday.

Tyler Owens led the Red Knights with 10 points. Dillon Gault added eight and Blaze Glenn chipped in seven.

The Golden Bears were led by Matt McLaughlin's nine points. Cody Howell added seven.

Madonna tops Bulldogs

WEIRTON - The Madonna boys basketball team scored 23 points in the fourth quarter to stretch a lead into a 64-54 victory Tuesday against Bridgeport inside the Dube Dome.

The Blue Dons (7-12) visit Edison Friday.

Nate Guio and James Carnes evenly split 30 points for the winners. Josh Martin added 13 and Kaleb Baire eight.

Bruins down Cadets

WHEELING - The Brooke boys basketball team outscored host Linsly 14-4 in the third quarter and 32-16 in the second half for a 65-47 victory Tuesday.

Russell Schwertfeger delivered 15 points for the 13-7 Bruins. Freshman Thomas Cole added 14, Ryan Heaton 10 and Eric Johnson and Austin Schambach eight each.

Brooke hosts East Liverpool with a 5 p.m. junior varsity tip Friday.

RAYLAND - The Buckeye Local boys basketball team used a strong first half and carried it to a 70-54 victory over visiting Shenandoah Tuesday.

The Panthers reached the .500 mark at 10-10 behind 25 points and 13 rebounds from Brennan Czuchran, both game-highs.

Kyle Michalo added 17 and Shane Duncan 10 for t he Panthers.

Buckeye Local visits Barnesville tonight.

Royals get win

CHESTER - The Jefferson County Christian School boys basketball team defeated host American Spirit Academy 38-25 Tuesday.

Matt Townsend and Bo Johnson tied for Royals' top honors with eight each. Wes Seabright added seven.

JCCS takes on Cheswick Christian Monday in SouthWestern Christian Athletic Conference Tournament play at Aquinas School in Pittsburgh.

Balance leads Lady Royals

CHESTER - The Jefferson County Christian girls basketball team used balanced scoring to defeat host American Spirit Academy 42-30 Tuesday at the Chester Municipal Building.

Senior Meadow Jackson paced the Lady Royals (12-7)?with nine points. Senior Margie Kissinger and juniors Kassie Lucas and Breona Brown each totaled eight points.

JCCS will take on Seeds of Faith Tuesday in SouthWestern Christian Athletic Conference Tournament play at the Neighborhood Academy in Pittsburgh.
