Panthers victorious again
RAYLAND - The Buckeye Local boys basketball team clinched its first winning season in 10 years with a 73-47 victory over visiting Bellaire Thursday.
"That's really big for us," Panthers coach Jay Morris said. "That was one of our goals this season to have a winning season. The last time we had a winning season here was in 2003. We had to win four of five game in the last seven days and that is just what we did.
"That's the second time this season we played three straight nights. We started to fall behind in the second period, but we challenged the kids at halftime and they came out and played well in the second half."
Kyle Michalo continued his torrid offensive streak with a game-high 32 points, giving him 88 in the past three victories.
John Rozenek added 16 points and Brennan Czuchran 11, to go along with nine rebounds each.
Buckeye Local, which was 1-20 two years ago, takes on Meadowbrook in sectional action on Feb. 22 at Ohio University-Eastern.
