WEIRTON - The Tri-State Marine Corps Club Auxiliary members held their monthly meeting recently at the Serbian American Cultural Center.
The group is collecting healthy snacks for active duty troops for April care packages and is accepting donations.
Those wanting to donate snacks or money toward the purchase of snacks can contact Joan Spano, president, at (304) 748-3107.
Spano presided at the meeting, welcoming two new members in Vicki Parr of Weirton, wife of Tri-State Marine Corps Club member John Parr, and Carolyn Mirabella of Follansbee, wife of member Samuel Mirabella.
Chaplain Mary Ann Smith led devotions, read "Love is Universal Language," offered the invocation and special prayers.
Marcy Spano led the group in opening ceremonies, and reports were given by Carol Lyons, recording secretary, who read a thank-you letter from the Barboursville Veterans Home for five birthday cards and 11 calendars sent to the home in January.
Maxine Ragan gave the treasurer's report, and Mary Ann Elliott gave the sunshine report on cards sent.
Joan Spano reminded everyone to get a gift for their secret pal. She also reported that she had sent five birthday cards and four calendars to veterans in February. Shannon Sweeney, stationed in North Carolina, called and thanked the club members for Christmas and Valentine's Day cards sent to her.
Joan Spano gave the members hand cream and lip balm for Valentine's Day.
The auxiliary sent 125 Valentines to active duty troops and 350 Valentines to Tri-State Area veterans.
The next meeting will be held March 11.
