Association recruiting members

WEIRTON - The Marland Heights Community Association held an open meeting recently to accept new members.

Discussions included upcoming events to raise funds to restore and re-open the Marland Heights Pool.

Events will include a concert in the park, featuring jazz vocalist Erin Burkett, who starred in "Wicked" on Broadway. Also discussed were a 5K run, T-shirt sales, flag sales, drawings and Kroger Card perks.

Board members are awaiting news on the grant they applied for in October. It would fund a feasibility study, and the board should hear this month whether the group has qualified.

Those wanting to join the association can visit their Facebook page by searching "Marland Heights Pool" or email ihimmelr@comcast.net.
