Senior center

WEIRTON - The Greater Weirton Senior Center will hold their second dance of the month from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday at the senior center.

The Elduray's will perform. The cost is $5 and includes coffee, punch and hot dogs. Doors open at 5 p.m.

The senior center will hold a "Spring Fling" craft show March 23. Vendor cost is $20 for the initial table and $5 for each extra table. Call (304) 748-3490 to reserve a table.

WEIRTON - St. Thomas Episcopal Church is having a fish fry from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in the church parish hall located at 300 Three Springs Drive. Dinners include fish, fries and coleslaw. Desserts will be available. Take-out is available.

WEIRTON - The Weir High School baseball team will be featured celebrity servers from 5 p.m. 9 p.m. Feb. 26 at Undo's Family Restaurant located on Three Springs Drive.

A lunch bucket drawing will feature gift cards from local restaurants. All proceeds benefit the baseball team.

Library celebrates

Dr. Seuss

AVELLA, Pa. - The Avella Public Library will celebrate Dr. Seuss Day March 2, and all those wearing a sweater to the library will receive a prize.

The library will hold its "Cre8time" kickoff from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 13. All are welcome to attend. Call (724) 587-5688 to register. The Easter party/story hour will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. March 23. All ages are welcome; call to register. The library will be closed April 1 in observance of the Easter holiday.

Soccer referee

classes available

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - The Mahoning Valley Soccer Officials Association will host certification clinics for those interested in being licensed youth soccer referees with a clinic for new referees being held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. March 9 at Eastern Gateway Community College's Room 2500.

The cost is $100.

There will be a recertification clinic for Grade 8 and 9 referees from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. March 23 in Room 2500. The cost is $50.

Both courses require the completion of an online training portion prior to the clinic. For information, visit www.ohnrefs.org.

Applicants who successfully complete the clinic and online training will earn a 2013 United States Soccer Federation Grade 8 license, allowing them to officiate recreational and travel soccer games.

Hip-hop beneft

WHEELING - The Ohio Valley African American Students Association will present their third annual Hip-Hop Showcase from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 2 at Wheeling Jesuit University's Troy Theatre.

The event will feature performances from Mz. New York, Y-N-C, Ponce De'leioun, GoodyBagz and RGM Crew. Markese Anderson-Williams will host. The event also will include a drawing and refreshments available for purchase.

The event benefits the students association awards banquet and scholarship fund.
