WEIRTON - The Weirton Area Museum and Cultural Center will hold the fifth annual Festival of Nations" from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 13 at the Weirton Event Center located on Cove Road.
The festival was revived in 2009 and was celebrated annually between 1934 and 1944. The festival promotes "Unity in Diversity," and will feature several ethnic groups performing traditional songs and dances. Groups will set up display booths exploring their heritage, and different ethnic foods will be available.
Admission is free, and there will be free shuttles between the events center and the Millsop Community Center parking lot.
COMMITTEE — The Festival of Nations 2013 Committee met at the museum Feb. 25 to finalize the event flyer and address invitation letters. Area residents and businesses are invited to become a sponsor or to memoralize or honor a loved one in the official festival program book. Platinum sponsorship are available for $250; gold, $100, silver, $50; and bronze, $25. Memorials and honors are available for $10 per name. Those interested in making a contribution are asked to do so by March 31 to ensure inclusion in the program book.
