announces upcoming events

FOLLANSBEE - The Follansbee Branch Library will hold story hours for children, ages 25, and their caregivers at noon Monday and March 11, 18 and 25.

Children will enjoy a story, craft, games and a snack and can get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny on March 25.

Seuss party to be held

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Reading Council will hold a birthday party for Dr. Seuss at the Brooke County Library at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Children of all ages are invited to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday by participating in reading activities that will include stories, crafts, games and more.

Children's knitting group offered

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Library's Kid's Knitting Group will meet from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 7 in the library's River Room.

Children in third grade or higher can learn to knit with help from instructor Nora Bell. They should bring yarn and needles or loom to start creating.

Computer class set

FOLLANSBEE - The Follansbee Branch Library will be offering a free basic computer class for adults at 11 a.m. March 8.

The instructor is Linda Dobbs.

Class space is limited, so reservations should be made by calling (304) 527-0860.

Library to show animated film

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Library will be showing the animated PG-rated film, "Wreck It Ralph," at 11 a.m. March 9.

The animated film involves Ralph, who has played the bad guy in his popular video game for decades. In a bold move, he sets out to prove he is a true hero with a big heart.

Night at the Races to benefit band

FOLLANSBEE -A Night at the Races to benefit the Follansbee Middle School Band will be held March 16 at the Hooverson Heights Fire Department.

Tickets are $20 each, which includes naming a horse, food, drinks and desserts.

Doors will open at 6 p.m., with racing to start at 7 p.m.

Bingo to benefit Relay for Life

WELLSBURG - A bingo to benefit the Brooke County American Cancer Society Relay for Life will be held March 17 at the Wellsburg Banquet Hall.

Doors will open at 1:30 p.m., with early bird games at 3:30 p.m. and regular games at 4 p.m. All games will be played with paper cards.

The cost is $25 per person with an opportunity to win more than $2,000 at the event, which also will include a 50-50 drawing and drawing for more than 60 door prizes.

Easter Bunny letters available

WELLSBURG - The Friends of the Brooke County Public Library will again be helping the Easter Bunny to send letters to area children.

The letters are $1.75 each and are addressed to each child.

The group also sells personalized children's books throughout the year that make great Easter gifts.

Each tells who gave the book and when it was given and includes the name of the child and his or her friends and other details in the story.

The books are available for $14 each and a variety of settings and themes. For information, stop by the Brooke County Public Library or Follansbee Branch Library.

Class of 1964 plans reunion

WINTERSVILLE, Ohio - The Steubenville Catholic Central High School Class of 1964 met to plan the 50th class reunion with 13 classmates and friends attending.

Those attending decided to hold the reunion June 6-7, 2014, and those present are investigating event sites and plan to report at the next meeting.
