Coroner checking cause of driver's death
STEUBENVILLE - The county coroner's office is checking the cause of death of a driver who wrecked his vehicle Friday evening on state Route 164, Bergholz, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.
David A. Wright, 58, of 833 Washington St., Bergholz, was driving on state Route 164, outside Bergholz, around 10:15 p.m. Friday, when the vehicle went off the left side of the road into a ditch.
The patrol reported it appears the man had a medical condition. The coroner's office is working to determine if he died from the medical condition prior to the wreck or the injuries from the wreck contributed to his death, the patrol reported.
The accident remains under investigation by troopers.
Man charged in stabbing incident
STEUBENVILLE - Curley Clarke, 65, of 1643 Ridge Ave. was charged with felonious assault early today by City Police after he allegedly stabbed a man at Ridge and Pittsburgh avenues.
Police were called about a man stabbed in the side shortly after midnight. Police reported the victim told police he saw his girlfriend being held by her hair by Clarke with a knife to her neck outside a house on Ridge Avenue. The victim went outside and was stabbed by Clarke, police reported.
Clarke was arrested by officers at his home and taken to the county jail.

JEWETT - An American Red Cross blood drive is planned from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 21 in the Jewett United Methodist Church's fellowship hall, West Main Street.
Lupus Support Group meets tonight
STEUBENVILLE - "Bringing Services into the Home" will be the topic when the Lupus Support Group meets from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center, 905 Market St.
Walter and Pat Howard are project coordinators, and Iris Callahan is an outreach worker.
The group is funded by the Ohio Commission on Minority Health and sponsored by Urban Mission Ministries/NCDC.
