WEIRTON - The Weirton United Way is looking to bring its 2012 fundraising campaign to a close, and is asking for the community's continued support.

The United Way has been working for the last several months to reach its 2012 goal of $280,000, and is approximately $6,000 from hitting the mark.

Executive Director Kristin Bowman-Cross said, while there is some time before the 2012 campaign is required to end, she would like to collect the final amount by Friday.

"We have until the end of the month," Bowman-Cross said, but explained the United Way would like to be able to find a way to reach the goal this week.

To help reach that goal, the employees of Hancock County Savings Bank have come together to once again show their support with a contribution to the campaign. The bank and its employees previously made various contributions to the campaign.

Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Cathy Ferrari explained the bank is proud to be able to support the United Way as it works to assist several area organizations.

"We know the organizations depend on the United Way," Ferrari said. "We wanted to do a little more this year to help."

The Weirton United Way supports 15 member agencies, including the American Red Cross-River Valley Chapter; Boys and Girls Club of Weirton; Girl Scouts Black Diamond Council; Boy Scouts of America; CHANGE, Inc.; Community Bread Basket; Dunbar Recreation Center; Healthways; Hancock/Brooke/Ohio/Marshall Retired and Senior Volunteer Program; Hancock County Sheltered Workshop; Hancock County 4-H Foundation; Weirton Medical Center Foundation; Mary H.
