Samuel Lopresti

LOPRESTI, Samuel Joseph, 93, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the Weirton Medical Center.

He was born in Weirton, WV on April 15, 1919, son of the late Fannie Minco and Lawrence Joseph LoPresti.

Samuel retired from the tin mill cleaning line of Weirton Steel Corporation after 41 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served with the 375th Military Police and Escort Service during World War II. He was also a member of Saint Joseph The Worker Catholic Church in Weirton.

Samuel was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, as well as a caring friend and neighbor.

He is also preceeded in death by his wife, Mary DeCollo LoPresti, whom he married on December 27, 1941 at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Weirton, WV, his daughter, Judy Wells; two brothers, Anthony LoPresti and Frank LoPresti; and two sisters, Josephine Rizzo and Nancy Urbowicz.

Surviving are one son, Larry D. LoPresti; two daughters, Fran J. Sullivan, and Chris Miller and her husband, Harold; and son-in-law, William Wells, all of Weirton; nine grandchildren, David Wells, Doug Wells, Diane Wells, Kristen Orris, Jason Miller, Jeff Miller, Deena Tomshack, Renee Presto, and Matthew LoPresti; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lena DeCollo and Rose Molnar both of Weirton.

Friends will be received Tuesday, March 12 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held at St. Joseph the Worker Church on Wednesday, March 13, at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105; or to St. Paul Catholic School 140 Walnut St., Weirton.
