Weir High School Class of '59

set to meet Tuesday evening

WEIRTON?- The Weir High School Class of 1959 will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Three Springs Drive Eat'n Park.

Football boosters holding fundraising

WEIRTON - The Weir Football Boosters will hold a night at the races fundraiser from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., with doors opening at 6 p.m., March 22 at the Weirton Veterans of Foreign War hall located at 3435 Main St.

The event will include a 50/50 drawing, auction and Weir football items.

The cost to sponsor a horse is $30, and that includes a ticket, food and beverages. The cost to sponsor a race is $50, including one ticket, food and beverages. All sponsors will be announced before the first race, between races and at the end of the event and listed on the boosters' social media. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Proceeds benefit the high school's weight room.

Library to show film

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Library will show the rated PG animated film, "Rise of the Guardians" at 11 a.m. March 23.

When an evil spirit known as Pitch lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children all over the world.

Book discussion group meeting

WEIRTON - The Saturday Afternoon Book Discussion Group will discuss the Pulitzer Prize-winning "March" by Geraldine Brooks at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mary H. Weir Public Library located on Main Street.

"March" follows the father of the Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women" during his deployment in the Civil War. The library has additional copies on loan from the West Virginia Library Commission available; inquire at the assistant director's office.

April's book will be "Lifeboat," by Charlotte Rogan. Copies will be available at the March meeting. The book discussion group meets the fourth Saturday of each month. All are welcome to attend.

Second Division looking for members

FOX LAKE, Ill. - The Second (Indianhead) Division Association is searching for anyone who ever served in the Army's Second Infantry Division at any time.
