City to flush hydrants

WELLSBURG -The Wellsburg Water Department will flush hydrants this week, beginning with Main, Charles and Marianna streets on Wednesday.

They also will flush Commerce Street, Pleasant and Grand avenues, High Street, Duvall Heights, 22nd Street Extension, Brinker Road and Forest Hills on Thursday; and White Bell Circle and state Route 27 to Park Addition on Friday.

Residents will experience discolored water and are advised to refrain from doing laundry during that time. There will be no boil order.

Sobriety checkpoint set for Friday

WELLSBURG - The West Virginia State Police will hold a sobriety checkpoint on state Route 2 in front of the state Division of Highways' Brooke County headquarters from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday.

State Police 1st Sgt. D.L. Robinson said, "This checkpoint will be conducted in an effort to deter and detect impaired drivers. It's not the intention of the West Virginia State Police to inconvenience the motoring public, but to make the highways safer for those traveling through West Virginia."

Blood drive set for Wednesday

STEUBENVILLE -An American Red Cross blood drive is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Medical Center East in the old business office near the Trinity School of Nursing.

JSWCD financial report available

WINTERSVILLE - The Jefferson Soil and Water Conservation District has its 2012 cash basis information on file at the district office, an official noted.

Those interested in reviewing the information can visit the office at its new location at 587 Bantam Ridge Road.
