WELSH, Katherine Geraldine McCormack Harris, 95, left this earthly kingdom for eternal life in God's arms on 10 Feb. 2013.
She died peacefully in hospice care in the home of her daughter Karen Harris.
She was preceded in death by husband Paul Henry Harris whom she married in 1937 and husband Joseph Emmett Welsh whom she married in 1968.
She was born March 2, 1917, in Mingo Junction, the youngest child of Matthew P. McCormack and Mary Ann Kern who preceded her in death along with nine siblings.
She is survived by three daughters, Kay Jean (Bob Wilson) of Raleigh NC, Paula (Don Benson) of Canton Ohio, Karen Harris of Miamisburg Ohio; seven grandchildren, Melissa (Wilson) Auten, Brian Wilson, Andy, Scott and Matt Benson, Marni (Teramana) Roebken, AJ Teramana; and 13 great-grandchildren with twin great-grandchildren coming soon.
Katherine, fondly nicknamed Gladys, Katie Scarlett, Harley Babe, Rosita, Team Grandma and Queenmother, was known for her infectious laugh, her sparkling personality, her beautiful smile and her spontaneous fun loving spirit.
She loved all things Irish, gardening, especially growing beautiful tomatoes and flowers, Disney World, dressing in costume, creative decorating, photography, parties, and fantastic cooking, most notably her potato salad. On her 85th birthday she took her first ride on a Harley. She was beloved by many and leaves a legacy of family stories and traditions.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. April 20 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Canton, Oh, followed by a brunch and celebration of her life at the residence of Paula Benson, 8274 Audubon St. NW, Massillion, Ohio 44646. All are welcome to join us for the service and brunch.
