Parish announces services

WEIRTON - The Weirton United Methodist Parish will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 6 p.m., Thursday at Christ United Methodist Church located at 3598 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton Heights.

The Good Friday Stations of the Cross will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church located at 3301 West St. This will be a self-paced service, with those participating staying as long as they want to mediate on the stations. The Easter sunrise service will be held at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church located at 101 Lisa Court. It will be followed by a continental breakfast.

Christ United Methodist Church will hold Easter services at 9:15 a.m. Sunday; First United Methodist Church will hold Easter services at 11 a.m. Sunday; and Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church also will hold Easter services at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The parish will present the Easter Cantata "It Is Finished" at 5 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church located at 3301 West St. A covered-dish dinner will follow the service, with the parish providing meat, bread and beverages.

Church hosts showing of 'Passion'

WELLSBURG - The First Presbyterian Church of Wellsburg will host a free presentation of the movie "The Passion of the Christ" immediately following the Maundy Thursday worship service at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church located at 901 Charles St.

The public is invited to attend.

Country Friends holding dance

COLLIERS - Country Friends will host the Sands of Time at the Memorial Hall located at 402 Old Police Lodge Road.

The doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance starts at 7 p.m.

The group holds covered-dish dinners and open mic nights every Monday and Friday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the meal begins at 5 p.m. and open mic begins at 6 p.m.

Retirees to meet April 9

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Retired School Employees will meet at 11:30 a.m. April 9 at the Franklin United Methodist Church.

President Sharon Cuomo will preside over a business meeting immediately following lunch. Local legislators will be the guest speakers. Members are asked to wear red, supporting the group's goal to raise $15 per year of service. Members are also asked to bring kid lit books and animals. Membership is open until June 30, and new members are welcome.

Church Women holding meeting

WEIRTON - The Church Women United will hold their executive board meeting at 10 a.m. April 5 at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church located at 300 Three Springs Drive.

Karen Tate, Weirton Unit president, will preside.

Eleanor Cline, devotions leader, and Eloise Evans, Fellowship of the Least Coin, will give reports. Second-year delegates will be assigned to plan the May Friendship Day celebration under the guidance of Helen Tate, co-ordinator.

Trail station opening April 6

MCDONALD, Pa. - The McDonald Trail Station will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays beginning April 6.

The history center will be open, and the meeting room will be available for small group rentals.

The McDonald Area Redevelopment Association meets at 6 p.m. the second Thursday of each month.

Manley to hold revival services

WELLSBURG - Stephen Manley will hold revival services April 7-11 at the Wellsburg Church of the Nazarene located at 835 Washington Pike.

The April 7 services will be held at 10:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Evening services will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 8-11. He also will lead Bible studies from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 9-11 at the church.

Manley, pastor at the Cross Style Church in Lebanon, Tenn., has traveled for more than 40 years, preaching and teaching. He has begun informal Bible training centers in more than 20 countries.

The Rev. Dennis K. Yingling of the Church of the Nazarene invites the public to attend the services and Bible studies.
