Brooke knocks off ’Cats

WELLSBURG - The Brooke softball team defeated Edison 8-6 Tuesday at the Brooke Athletic Complex.

Kaylee Kuchinski earned the victory in the circle, striking out seven. Katie Castellucci pitched scoreless sixth and seventh innings, striking out four, to help preserve the victory.

Taylor Simala had a double and three RBIs for the Bruins. Michaela Hinerman, Isabella Preston, Kristen Reardon and Kuchinski each drove in a run as well.

The Wildcats' Caitlin Brenstuhl struck out seven in the loss as well as had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs. Molly McCoy had a double, triple, and an RBI.

Both are in action today with Brooke hosting Weir and Edison welcoming John Marshall.

Carroll no-hits Potters

STEUBENVILLE - One day after being no-hit, Steubenville's Brooke Carroll threw her own no-hitter in Tuesday's 10-0 victory over East Liverpool at Jim Wood Park.

Carroll struck out 10 in the win. Christina Archer had two doubles, a single and four RBIs. Mallory Giannamore added a double, single and drove in a run.

Big Red travels to Indian Creek Friday.

TORONTO - The Toronto baseball team defeated Buckeye Local 14-4 Tuesday at the Knight Baseball Complex.

Tyler Owens struck out seven in the win. Chez Glen had a three singles and Owens added two of his own.

Austin Marshall had a triple for the Panthers.

Both are on the diamond today with Toronto hosting St. John and Buckeye Local at Martins Ferry.

Huskies beat Oak Glen

CADIZ - The Harrison Central baseball team defeated Oak Glen 12-5 Tuesday.

Ryan Rose struck out seven in the win and also had two singles and two RBIs. Nick Pelegreen had two singles and drove in four runs with Drew Horn driving in three runs on three singles and Rashaen Mitchell adding a double and two RBIs.

Alex Wedgwood had two singles and two RBIs for the Golden Bears.

Both teams play at home today with Harrison Central hosting St. Clairsville and Oak Glen taking on Madonna.

Creek downs Brooke

MINGO JUNCTION - The Indian Creek baseball team defeated Brooke 9-2 Tuesday.

Dustin Rath earned the victory with Alex Young and Sean Smith closing things out late in relief. Rath helped his cause with three singles and an RBI. Jimmy Bolyog, Cole Yeater, and Adam Freshwater each drove in a run as well.

Brooke received a double and an RBI from Heath Hildreth.

Indian Creek and Brooke each play today with the Redskins welcoming Edison and Brooke traveling to Magnolia.
