BAUER, George J. Jr., 82, of Colliers, WV, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at his residence with his family and Valley Hospice at his side.
George was born on Oct. 10, 1930, in Weirton, WV.; the son of the late George Sr. and Ditha (McGaughey) Bauer.
George retired from Weirton Steel Corp. He was Methodist by denomination. George served in the United States Army as a corporal during the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. George was an avid sports fan and loved all the Pittsburgh teams.
In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his wife Dolores (Pasquarella) Bauer; two sons, Donald and Robert Bauer; a grandson, David; a sister, Barbara Snyder; and a brother, Bill Bauer.
George is survived by three children, Debbie (Nick) Cebula of Colliers, WV, Karen (Richard) Miser of Weirton, WV, and George J. (Vicky) Bauer III of Winston Salem, NC; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Lee Ann Tricket of Weirton, WV and Diane Borchers of South Carolina; two brothers, Donald (Betty) Bauer of Follansbee, WV and Robert "Red" (Marie) Goodnight of Florida; and several nieces and nephews Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, from 3-7 p.m. and again on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, from 10 until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main Street, Follansbee, WV 304-527-1717 with Chaplain George Romage, Valley Hospice.
Interment will follow with military honors by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Steubenville, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George's name to Valley Hospice, 10686 Ohio 150, Rayland, OH 43943.
