Glenn Miller Orchestra tickets for tonight still available
NEW CUMBERLAND - Tickets are still available for the Glenn Miller Orchestra performance at 7 p.m. today at Oak Glen Middle School.
Advance tickets are $21 until 4 p.m. at the school. Tickets are $24 at the door.
Doors open at 6:45 p.m. The Oak Glen High School Jazz Ensemble will begin the program at 7 p.m., and the orchestra will perform at 7:30 p.m.

Church holding rummage sale
WEIRTON - St. Thomas Episcopal Church will have a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church located on Three Springs Drive.
Elks holding soup challenge
WEIRTON - The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 will hold a Soup Cookoff Challenge and pasta dinner this weekend for members and their guests at the lodge located on Main Street.
The Soup Cookoff Challenge will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. The House Committee invites all members and guests to enter their best soup. The cost to sample and vote for the best soups is $3 for adults and $2 for children. Prizes will be awarded for the best soups.
The Past Exalted Rulers will hold a pasta dinner from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday for members and guests. The dinner includes pasta, salad, bread, butter, dessert and coffee or tea. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children age 10 and under. A ticket will be selected for a free dinner at next month's pasta Sunday.
Country Friends hosting dance
COLLIERS - Country Friends will host The Stone Street Station Saturday at the Memorial Hall located on Old Police Lodge Road.
The doors open at 6 p.m., and the dance begins at 7 p.m.
Country Friends holds covered-dish dinners and open mic nights every Monday and Friday. The doors open at 4 p.m., the meal begins at 5 p.m., and open mic begins at 6 p.m.

Scholarship deadline upcoming
EAST LIVERPOOL - The Dollars for Scholar scholarship program application deadline for the 2013-2014 academic year is April 25.
The program gives tuition award to pay for college, vocational-technical school or graduate school. Funding is determined by financial need, and grants cover between 8 and 79 percent of total tuition.
The three-part application includes a recommendation section to be filled out by a teacher, boss, advisor or coach. Applications are online at DollarsForScholarsOnline.com.
GFWC district workshop set
NEW CUMBERLAND - The GFWC West Virginia Northern District Spring Leadership Workshop will be held April 27 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 304 Ridge Ave.
Northern District President Jo-Ellen Wright, of the Woman's Club of Weirton, will preside, and the Woman's Club of New Cumberland will host.
The club's leaders include: Dorothy Hawkes, president; Joyce Young, workshop chairman; and Betsy Wells, registration chairman.
A pre-convention board meeting will be held at 9 a.m for all district officers, chairmen, team members and club presidents.
The general session will begin at 10 a.m., with various workshops presented by Betsy Wells, Helen Moren, Jamesie Beecroft and Wright to follow.
Clubs are encouraged to bring items for Camp Kno Koma, which is State President Carol Allen's project. Hunger is the district president's project, and members are encouraged to bring non-perishable food.
The cost for registration fee and lunch is $15 and should be submitted to Wells by Wednesday.
WEIRTON - Pharmacist Megan Pietro will present a class, "Metabolic Syndrome," at 3 p.m. April 29 at Weirton Medical Center's Starvaggi Room.
Light refreshments will be available, and a prize drawing will be held.
