Coffeehouse at the Arbor to

host Echoes of Faith

NEW CUMBERLAND - Coffeehouse at The Arbor will host Echoes of Faith in performance at 6 p.m. Saturday at 208 S. Chester St., one block south of the traffic light.

The group will play a mix of ballads, country and gospel. This is the last concert of the season, and concerts will resume in October.

A 50/50 drawing will be held, and sandwiches will be available for purchase.

Free parking is available. There is no cost to attend, but donations will be accepted. Proceeds benefit the Arbor and its community outreach after-school programs.

Writing worship to be held

WEIRTON - A writing workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mary H. Weir Public Library located on Main Street.

The John Hancock Pen Club will host the event, and those attending are encouraged to bring either prose or poetry to share. In observance of National Poetry Month, those attending also are encouraged to bring an original poem or favorite poem by another author. Local writers are invited to come and share their work. Refreshments will be served.

Volunteers sought for church efforts

FOLLANSBEE - The Follansbee First Church of the Nazarene Outreach Team seeks volunteers to aid it in cleaning and painting its parsonage Saturday and in cleanup efforts at city parks on April 27.

The group said by participating, students may earn community service credits required by some schools.

The group will gather at the church at 2 p.m.

Tips offered on detecting liars

WELLSBURG - The Lifetree Cafe will present tips on detecting liars, a video presentation by a former CIA agent, at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Staffileno's on the River.

Auxiliary holding sale

WEIRTON - The Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary will hold a Masquerade $5 jewelry sale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 24 and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday in the medical center atrium.

Knights holding cash bash

WEIRTON - The Weirton Knights of Columbus will hold the fourth-annual cash bash May 4 at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

The doors open at 5 p.m., and cash drawings begin at 6 p.m. and will be held every 15 minutes.

Tickets are $35 and include an all-you-can-eat buffet, soda, draft beer and the chance to win one of 16 cash prizes. Guest tickets for food and beverages only are $20. Cash prizes include four $500 prizes, 12 $250 prizes and a $4,000 grand prize. The event also will include a 50/50 drawing and small games of chance. A silent basket auction also will be held.
