On Saturday, Comcast employees will team up with residents of communities across the nation for its annual Comcast Cares Day, during which a variety of projects will be performed in an effort to give back.
Locally, plans include work at Starvaggi Memorial Park in Weirton, where beautification and landscaping will be performed.
Volunteers are asked to meet at the park at 8 a.m., so if you are interested in lending a hand there is still time and we hope you will consider doing so.
It is always good for communities to come together and work toward making some sort of improvement to their town, whether it be just in their neighborhood or citywide.
We always encourage our residents to step forward, whenever possible, and give back.
We also thank Comcast for being willing to continue such a program all over the nation. By seeing large, national companies making such contributions, we can only hope it will encourage others to do the same.
We have many local organizations in Weirton, and throughout Hancock and Brooke counties, which work tirelessly to contribute to our area, raising funds to beautify our parks and playgrounds, organizing festivals and other community functions, or simply planting some flowers along a barren street.
It doesn't have to be a large effort or project to make a difference. But it shows we each can do something to make our communities a little better.
