Knights of Columbus holding

spaghetti dinner May 4

WEIRTON - The Weirton Knights of Columbus will hold the fourth annual cash bash May 4 at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

The doors open at 5 p.m., and the cash drawings begin at 6 p.m., and continue every 15 minutes thereafter.

Tickets are $35 and include an all-you-can-eat buffet, soda and beer and the chance to win one of more than 16 cash prizes. Guest tickets, for food and beverages only, are $20 each.

There are four $500 prizes; 12 $250 prizes and one $4,000 grand prize. There will be a 50/50 drawing and small games of chance. A silent auction for gift baskets will be held.

Church holding bake sale

WEIRTON - The Weirton Alliance Church will hold a basement and bake sale May 11.

The sale will include children's clothing, toys, household goods, furniture and baked goods. Items will be available by donation. All donations benefit the church's youth group trip to attend the national conference "Life" in July.

Meucci Lodge meets

WEIRTON - The Antonio Meucci Lodge met April 9 at Undo's at the Holiday Inn - Weirton.

President Regina Truax opened the meeting; Mary Rose Spano gave the opening prayers; and Carl Truax lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Gino Guglielmo spoke about the Wine in the Woods scholarship fundraiser June 9 at the Serbian Picnic Grounds on Kings Creek Road.

Angie Veltri called roll and read the minutes; Carol Valenti gave the financial report; and Linda Pfabe gave the treasurer's report.

Regina Truax announced the following club trips:

June 7, Sugar Creek;

June 12, Viva Las Vegas; and

June 16-22, Mackinac Island.

Benefit for Gill set

WEIRTON - Friends Helping Friends will host a benefit for Michael Gill at 2 p.m. May 18 at The Sports Court Lounge located at 3134 Pennsylvania Ave.

The cover charge is $10 or $5 for those who purchase a Friends Helping Friends bracelet in advance.

The event includes food, a Chinese auction, 50/50 drawing, cornhole tournament, live entertainment and disc jockey.

Heritage Sunday set for May 19

NEW CUMBERLAND - The First Presbyterian Church of New Cumberland will hold the annual Heritage Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m. May 19 at the church located at 200 Court St.

The celebration will begin at 10 a.m. with bagpipes and drum on the front greens, followed at 10:30 a.m. with a traditional Irish dancer and a processional of banners into the church at 11 a.m. for the service, which will close with the kirkin of the tartans.

Scones, pastries and light refreshments will follow the service.

Council holding wine-tasting

PITTSBURGH - The Allegheny West Civic Council will host a guided walking tour and wine-tasting from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 7-8 in the Allegheny West Historic District on the North Side.

Guest will meet at historic Holmes Hall to begin the evening and will visit six additional homes and gardens and will sample different wines and hors d'oeuvres at each.

Free parking is available throughout the neighborhood.

Tickets are $60 per person and can be purchased by visiting or by sending a check payable to AWCC to 812 Western Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15233. Include a self-addressed, self-stamped envelope and an email address.

Tickets are nonrefundable.
