Weir High to present original musical

WEIRTON - The Weir High School theater department will present the original musical, "The Day the Music Died," written by theater director Ray Seifert, with shows Wednesday through Saturday.

The musical is set in the present day on the Broadway stage of the Grand Victorian Theater in New York City. The owner is fighting to save the theater from demolition, when a group of high school theater students visit and experience a life-changing event.

The show will be presented at the Milton Weinberg Theater at Weir High School Wednesday through Saturday, with performances beginning at 6 p.m. each night. Tickets are $5 and available at the door.

The cast includes Samantha Hayes, as the school drama teacher Cheryl Jacobs, Jakob Hartley and Dustin Bailey sharing the role of theater owner John Edmondson, Daniel Mayfield as Sebastian Saint-Jaimes, an accomplished Broadway actor, and Abbie Peters as Broadway costume designer Thelma Weinberg.

Rounding out the cast are Nicolas Campbell, Nicolas Vandruff, Conner McCoy, Dustin Baily, Samantha Calhoun, Alexis Hardrow, Caelen Crowley, Kiara Cimperman, Jessica Davis, Alyssa Harris, Abby Crago, Susan Birkhimer, Ianisha Anderson, Christa Hamilton, Ashleigh Oliver, Emily Little, Christina Lawrence, Shelby Lengyel, Kirstin Ward and Kiara Fastuca.

Lydia Taylor is the art designer, and choreography was created by Seifert, Kiara Cimperman, Emily Little and Jessica Davis.
