Substance Abuse Task Force
set to meet Monday
WELLSBURG - The Governor's Regional Substance Abuse Task Force will meet at 5 p.m. Monday at the lecture hall at Brooke High School located at 1 Bruin Drive.
The task force serves Hancock and Brooke counties, and HealthWays Inc. will moderate the discussion. Local residents' input is sought to deal with the communities' substance abuse problems.
Refreshments will be served.
Follansbee Class of '61 to meet
WEIRTON - The Follansbee High School Class of 1961 will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Three Springs Drive Eat'n Park.
All classmates, spouses and guests are welcome.
Mother's Day story hour to be held
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Library will hold a Mother's Day evening story hour, with Kim Harless, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Gardeners offer plants
WEIRTON - The Tri-State Area Master Gardener Association will hold their annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon May 11 in the Gabriel Brothers parking lot. No sales will be made before 9 a.m. Vegetables, flowers, bushes, houseplants, terrariums, fairy gardens and gift items will be available. Master Gardeners will be available to answer questions.

Society holding plant sale
ELDERSVILLE, Pa. - The Jefferson Township Historical Society will hold a plant sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 11 at the White Church located at 11 Fire Road, across from the Jefferson Township Volunteer Fire Department.
Most plants have been home grown by the group's Master Gardener. Plants available include hibiscus, coreopsis, zinnas, geraniums, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, basil, oregano, parsley and hyancinth beans, a 10-foot twining vine that blooms all summer.
Mothers Day pancake breakfast set
STEUBENVILLE - A Mothers Day pancake breakfast to benefit Brooke County Special Olympics will be held from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. May 11 at the Steubenville Applebee's. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased from any athletes, by calling (304) 797-1574 or (304) 737-1376 or at the door.
Schools look at family involvement
NEW CUMBERLAND - Hancock County Schools will present an overview of support for personalized learning, focusing on parents as partners in education and engaging families in early literacy experiences from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 15 at the John D. Rockefeller IV Center located on state Route 2.
