Manchin staffers to visit area

Representatives of U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., will make almost 100 stops across West Virginia as part of the fifth Commonsense Connections Week, beginning May 20.

Representatives from Manchin's offices will be visiting all 55 counties to meet with constituents, hear their priorities and gather their feedback on issues.

"Bringing the government directly to our citizens and knowing their concerns and ideas have always been top priorities for me as a former governor and now as U.S. Senator," Manchin said. "West Virginians should have access to assistance and that is what 'Commonsense Connections' is all about - my staff travels to every corner of the state, to every county, and meets with West Virginians to hear about their personal challenges and suggestions for Washington."

Manchin launched his first Commonsense Connections Week in February 2011.

The following local stops have been scheduled to date:

Noon to 1:30 p.m., May 20, Greater Weirton Senior Center, 3425 Main St., Weirton.

2 p.m. to 4 p.m., May 20, Chester City Building, 600 Indiana Ave., Chester.

1 p.m. to 3 p.m., May 21, City Council Chambers, Follansbee City Building.

4 p.m. to 6 p.m., May 21, Brooke County Public Library, 945 Main St., Wellsburg.
