Madonna High sophomores to

hold car wash Saturday

WEIRTON - The Madonna High School sophomore class will hold a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Busy Beaver located on St. Thomas Drive.

Elks cancel dinner

WEIRTON - The Weirton Elks Lodge 1801 has canceled Sunday's pasta dinner because of a scheduled interruption of water service.

There will be no pasta dinner in June because the third Sunday falls on Father's Day.

Management club will meet

WEIRTON - The Weirton Steel Management Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Giovanni's Restaurant banquet room.

All members and guests are invited to attend. Dinner and social will be enjoyed.

Library to show film

WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Public Library will show the PG-13-rated film, "Safe Haven," at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The romantic drama is based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name.

Grief program to be held

FOLLANSBEE - Genesis Health Care and Amedisys Hospice will hold a free program for individuals dealing with grief and their loved ones at 2 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month, beginning Tuesday, at Brightway Center at 840 Lee Road.

Class of 1953 to meet

WEIRTON - The Weir High School Class of 1953 Reunion Committee will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Knights of Columbus.

The 60th class reunion will be held July 26-27 at the Knights of Columbus. All classmates are welcome to attend and participate in the planning meeting.

Living happy life topic of discussion

WELLSBURG - How to experience a full and satisfying life will be explored at the next Lifetree Cafe at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Staffileno's on the River.

The free program will include a filmed interview with Sasha Vukelja, who as a young girl escaped from communist Yugoslavia and emigrated to the United States. Vukelja, now an oncologist, tells how she works with patients facing an uncertain future to find hope and a positive attitude.

Seeing Hand official to visit

WEIRTON - A representative of the Seeing Hand Association will be at the Greater Weirton Senior Center at noon Thursday to discuss glaucoma, cataracts and low vision aids.

Senior center to hold dance

WEIRTON - A dance, featuring music by The Light Touch, will be held Thursday at the Greater Weirton Senior Center at 3425 Main St.

Admission is $5, which includes hot dogs, punch and coffee. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with music from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
