MILLER, Charles E., 83, of Kilgore, passed away early Sunday morning, June 9, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Canton.
A son of the late Howard and Nellie Kohler Miller, he was born May 29, 1930, in Kilgore, Ohio.
Charles had worked for the Scio Pottery, Atwood Lodge, and Quality Inn Hotels before retiring in 1997 from the Ohio Department of Transportation. His many memberships included Carrollton Lions Club, Loudon-Lee Township Ruritan Club, and life member of Kilgore United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of the Loudon Township Fire Department were he served as President for 23 years, and he was an EMT working with the Kilgore department and Amsterdam BRASS.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Carl, and a sister, Doris Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Lewis; five daughters, Vickie (Marco) Brancker of Hendersonville, NC, Ellen (Rick) Paule of Dayton, OH, Donna (Michael) Dubetz of East Springfield, Jane Kopp of Malvern, Betty Jo (Vern) Coffy of Kilgore; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; good friend, Packey Valleca; brother-in-law, Carl Lewis; beloved pet, Cocoa; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Sweeney- Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Pastor Vickie Brancker officiating. Burial will follow in Kilgore Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 with the family present from 6-8 p.m. only.
