Two transported following ATV accident

WELLSBURG - A woman was transported by medical helicopter to an area hospital following an accident involving an all-terrain vehicle on Genteel Ridge Road Sunday afternoon.

The Brooke County Sheriff's Department confirmed Acacia Gaudio, 22, of Midland, Pa., was flown for treatment after the ATV she was riding ran into a hillside at about 1:35 p.m.

The driver - John M. McGowan, 36, of Wellsburg - was treated for injuries, but it wasn't clear if he had to be transported from the scene.

McGowan was cited for speeding, carrying a passenger when the vehicle wasn't built for that and riding on a lined road.

The Brooke County Ambulance Service and firefighters from Franklin Community and McKinleyville also were called to the scene.
