TORONTO - Good pitching and solid hitting helped Post 86 earn a 7-4 victory over Post 33 Tuesday at the Knight Baseball Complex.

Jarin McIntosh worked 6 innings to earn the victory for Steve Sninchak's Toronto club. The Wellsville product scattered seven hits and fanned six. Seth Wilson took over for McIntosh before Andy Miller came on to get the victory-clinching out. McIntosh held Steubenville hitless until speedy Alex Young beat out an infield grounder with two outs in the third.

The Post 86 right-hander worked out of bases-loaded jams in the second and fourth innings. Steubenville juiced the sacks with one gone in the second but McIntosh recorded a strikeout then induced a rally-ending infield fly. He allowed back-to-back singles by Pat Pizzoferrato and John Linn to start the fourth. Two Post 33 batters went down swinging before Kai McClurg was clipped by a pitch. Unfazed, McIntosh retired the next hitter on a routine fly.

"He did an excellent job," Sninchak said of McIntosh. "That's his second outing like that. He pitched the same way against Coshocton. He just gets out there and bulldogs. He really competes."

Toronto had its bats going right from the start.

Blaze Glenn led-off the first by placing a base hit over the head of Post 33 shortstop Young. Tyler Owens reached on a hard single then Jordan Mavromatis laced a double to left-center, scoring Glenn. Owens touched home on Billy Solomon's sacrifice fly to center. John Romey's two-bagger to deep left plated Mavromatis.

Post 86 might have done more first inning damage if not for a web gem in center by Post 33's Bryan Pierro. He made a diving catch on Solomon's run-producing effort.

Glenn knocked home two runs in the fourth for Post 86, now 2-6. The final Toronto tallies came in the fifth. Owens and Mavromatis both doubled to left center. Solomon later singled and scored.

Owens finished with two singles and a double to pace the 12-hit Toronto attack. Glenn and Mavromatis (he also knocked in a pair) had two hits each.

"That's the first time this year we've really been able to string together some hits and it feels pretty good actually," Sninchak noted. "We've been struggling at the plate. The guys have been swinging the ball well but not hitting the ball well. Today, we did both things well.

"We're pretty balanced one through nine. They will swing the bats and this is what we are capable of doing."

Steve Mihalyo took the loss for Post 33, which saw its 10-game winning streak snapped. Pierro came on the in the sixth for his first mound appearance of the season and recorded a 1-2-3 inning.

Pizzoferrato was the only Steubenville player to record a two-hit game. He drove home Post 33's first run in the fifth. Pierro had two RBI on a sixth inning base hit and a seventh inning walk.

"We didn't do anything well today," Post 33's Don Young (his club was guilty of five fielding miscues) said. "We didn't play well and we didn't coach well. We were just not prepared to play.

"We couldn't get the big hit (Post 33 stranded 11 runners) and McIntosh pitched a good game."

Post 33, now 12-2, will host Richmond today.

"We've been on a pretty good run and we'll get back after it tomorrow." Young continued. "One big hit here or there and we might have turned the tide."

Toronto visits Cadiz this evening.
