COLLIERS - David and Carolyn Velegol celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple were married on June 5, 1963, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Clarksburg, W.Va.
She is the daughter of the late Michael and Helen Smrek Kopson. She is a homemaker.
He is the son of the late John and Elizabeth Tokas Velegol. He is a retired mechanical engineer from the Weirton Steel Corp.
The couple have four children: David Jr. of Follansbee; Sonja McCreary of Huntersville, N.C.; Douglas of Weirton; and Darrell of State College, Pa. There are nine grandchildren.
They celebrated their anniversary by returning to Carter Caves Resort Park in Olive Hill, Ky., their original honeymoon site. The celebration began with a Mass at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Follansbee, followed by a dinner at Undo's in Weirton.
They reside in Colliers and in Winter Haven, Fla.
