to hold annual picnic July 18
WELLSBURG - The Brooke County Senior Center's annual picnic will be held at 10 a.m. July 18 at Brooke Hills Park.
In addition to food, there will be live entertainment, bingo, a balloon release and prizes.

Spay/neuter clinic scheduled
WINTERSVILLE, Ohio - The Brooke County Animal Welfare League will hold their next spay and neuter Roaming Animal Sterilization Clinic at Low Cost Aug. 3-4 at the Jefferson County Airpark.
Immediate pre-payment is required. There are no walk-in services or vaccinations available.
Appointments are not limited to Brooke County residents. Any interested pet owner may make an appointment by calling (304) 374-4443.
Classes to hold reunion
WEIRTON - The Weir High School Classes of 1957, 1958, 1959 and 1960 will have a picnic at 5 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Serbian Picnic Grounds located on Kings Creek Road.
Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and their own table setting. Those wanting to help set up should be at the grounds at 9 a.m. Aug. 21.
A whole chicken costs $6.75; those attending should pre-order by calling (740) 264-0080 by Aug. 14.

Library to host re-enactment
MCDONALD, Pa. - The Heritage Library will host "History at Heritage," a Civil War re-enactment featuring the Ninth Pennsylvania Reserves from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 31 next to the library.
The event will include an encampment, weapon firing, drill demonstrations, a presentation on Civil War-era medicine and book signing.
The library will hold a used book sale for $5 a bag the day of the event.

Coleman to host basketball camp
WEIRTON - Coach Mel Coleman will host his 29th annual basketball camp from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8-12 at the Mercy Baptist Church's Bush Center located 3474 Pennsylvania Ave.
It is open to girls and boys aged 6 to 18. It is the longest-running basketball camp in the Tri-State area.
All campers receive a T-shirt, lunch and lessons from qualified staff and instructors.

Duke named to dean's list
NEW CONCORD, Ohio - Megan Duke of Weirton has been named to the Muskingum University spring 2013 dean's list.
To be named to the dean's list, Muskingum students must attain strictly prescribed levels of academic performance in their overall grade point average.
