NEW CUMBERLAND - New Cumberland City Council revised the city's budget for fiscal year 2014 in a special meeting Monday, adding almost $50,000 in available funding.
West Virginia municipalities and counties usually submit their budgets to the state auditor in March and have until July to make revisions, City Clerk Tammy Jenkins said. The new fiscal year started July 1.
Council was able to adjust the general fund budget upward from $148,335 to $196,837 because of a carryover balance, Jenkins said.
Council also adjusted the coal severance tax revenue from $2,000 to $2,728. The latter is dedicated for streets and highways.
In addition, New Cumberland Council approved an expenditure of up to $500 to make repairs to the city's Kubota tractor, including new tires and new blades.
